About Lindsay

I grew up in Houston, TX and will always treasure the fun, hands-on learning experiences and nurturing teachers I experienced as a child. These memories inspired me to become a teacher. I graduated with high honors from the University of Texas with a degree in Applied Learning and Development and teaching English as a Second Language. I taught kindergarten and first graders at NYOS Charter School and Andrews Elementary. Then I spent a year working in New Zealand, where I met my husband, and gained many worldly experiences that inspire my teaching. After living in New Zealand I taught at the Austin Jewish Academy, where I created my own curriculum and loved implementing integrated projects and real life experiences into the classroom.
I am extremely passionate about teaching elementary age students and have spent the past 18 years working with students ages 4-12 teaching them in the classroom and private tutoring. I have tutored over 200 children in the Riverplace, Steiner Ranch and NW Hills neighborhoods. When teaching new concepts I like to use a variety of teaching materials that range from books, songs/poems, whiteboards, magnetic letters, teaching games, technological devices, and worksheets. I want to instill a love for learning in young children and believe it is essential to individualize instruction in order to meet the needs of every child.
